Late in 2023 sitting around the table at a favorite Mexican restaurant and a few Margaritas, I asked Friends, Charlotte and husband Larry, about riding the 50th anniversary of the Bike Across Kansas. I did it with my best friend in 2005 – twenty rides before. I recalled to them of the limited luggage and the return to high school showering and the shoulder to shoulder gym floor sleeping arrangements. As I watch the lost interest in their faces I paused … But Paul and I have a 5th wheel – the lights came back on and interest ramped up!! We were a few months from the route disclosure and the registration. Just as the window opened I was on the computer and signed up as were my new riding buddies and the formation of TeamSloth!! And my new annual adventure! Pamela (Paul saves us from wind and weather and importantly from high school showering and the gymnasium floor by driving our 5th Wheel)
We Can Do THIS!!
Very Dedicated and organized many training rides – many of which I could not attend. Charlotte discovered that the 2 wheel variety of bike was not for her so the trike was found and she went on the road like a champ!
Paul jumped in to drive the 5th wheel, set up and take down to meet us at the other end of each days journey.
Half way but just 5 miles out of Concordia KS, our stop for the night Larry had the misfortune of a fall with fractured ribs- so sad they were out – off to the hospital then home. But thank the Lord a quick recovery!
I continued on alone but the rest of the team in spirit. Last day was righteous rain, thunder and lightning- held up in a barn until the weather calmed some then on we went (the group in the barn) to finish the day at the Big Muddy, Muddy Mo, Missouri River.

Late summer of 2025 a suggestion and a loaner bike started a new adventurer
